  • Australian CEO, 58, Stabbed To Death During House Party, 15-Year-Old Arrested

A 58-year-old Australian CEO has died after allegedly being stabbed by a 15-year-old during a house party in Brisbane. According to The Guardian, Greg Josephson, the co-founder of clothing company Universal Store, was hosting a house party with around 30 teenagers when he was found dead at his mansion on Thursday. A 15-year-old boy, who was known to the entrepreneur, was arrested near the home and was later charged with one count of murder.

Mr Josephson co-founded the youth-focused Universal Store clothing company with his brother, Michael, in 1999. Officers responded to a call on Thursday evening and arrived at the residence hosting a party with around 30 teenagers present. At the scene, cops found the entrepreneur’s body inside, but most of the teens were unaware of what had happened, officials said.

The 15-year-old was then located on a nearby street, police allege. “At this stage, the initial investigation indicates that no other persons were involved other than the 15-year-old boy,” Det Acting Supt Craig Williams said, per The Guardian

Mr Williams confirmed that police had also located the alleged weapon. The boy was questioned and was later charged with one count of murder and refused police bail, officials said.

According to the New York Post, Mr Josephson knew his alleged killer before the two got into an altercation. The teen allegedly grabbed a household item to stab the 58-year-old.

“It’s distressing for the family. It’s distressing for the community and for … innocent people who are at the house who have nothing to do with it, so all possible support’s being offered to those people

The tech magnate, 61, and his fiancee, 55, kicked off a three-day wedding celebration Thursday with guests including Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey and Orlando Bloom.

But Bezos — one of the world’s richest men and founder of a company regularly scrutinised for how it treats its workers — is different. And the festivities have sparked protests from environmentalists and locals who accuse authorities of pandering to the super rich while the city drowns under tourists.

Bezos and former news anchor and entertainment reporter Sanchez are staying at the Aman hotel, a luxury 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto bridge.

They will exchange vows at a black-tie ceremony on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, according to Italian media reports.

The wedding itself is expected to take place in a vast open-air amphitheatre on the island, which sits across from St Mark’s Square.

  • Gangster’s Nephew Shot Dead In Delhi, London-Based Don Link Emerges

    New Delhi:

A 30-year-old man named Deepak, the nephew of notorious Delhi gangster Manjit Mahal, was shot dead while on a morning walk in the Bawana area of Delhi. The incident took place between 7 and 8 AM in Nagal Thakran village. According to Delhi Police sources, the murder is suspected to be the handiwork of the Kapil Sangwan gang, led by gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu, who is currently based in London.

Two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on Deepak, firing multiple rounds. Deepak died on the spot, and his daughter, who was accompanying him, sustained a gunshot injury to her hand. She is currently out of danger. Deepak’s parents, who were also walking behind him, reported that the attackers even issued death threats to them.

Preliminary investigation reveals that after the initial firing, the shooters returned to the spot and shot Deepak again before fleeing. Deepak reportedly suffered 7-8 bullet wounds, though the exact number will be confirmed after the post-mortem.

Police sources confirm that Deepak had no criminal background, despite being related to gangster Manjit Mahal. Locals and villagers told NDTV that Deepak was a simple, well-behaved man with no involvement in crime.

CCTV footage shows the two attackers on a bike around 6:12 AM, shortly after Deepak left his house for his walk. According to residents, the attackers had been conducting reconnaissance in the area for the past 3-4 days.

Family members suspect the murder may be linked to Deepak’s mother visiting Manjit Mahal’s home last month during a family wedding and mourning ceremony. Deepak is survived by his wife and two children, aged 8 and 11. His family has not yet informed his wife of his death.

  • Can anyone stop two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz or world number one Jannik Sinner lifting the Wimbledon men’s title? The two standout players in the world have gobbled up the past six Grand Slams between them, earlier this month playing out a French Open final for the ages. Novak Djokovic is the last of the “Big Three” still standing, refusing to give up on his dream of a record 25th Grand Slam singles title, while Jack Draper shoulders British hopes.

We look at three talking points ahead of the tournament, which starts at the All England Club on Monday.

    Alcaraz-Sinner show

Alcaraz is aiming to become just the fifth man to win at least three straight Wimbledon titles in the Open Era after Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Djokovic.

Alcaraz, who has beaten Djokovic in the past two finals, arrives at the All England Club fresh from winning Queen’s for a second time, taking his grass-court trophy tally to four.

  • Canada’s New Citizenship Bill: What It Means For Indians, Those Born Abroad

The Canadian government introduced Bill C-3, removing limits on citizenship by descent, allowing Canadians born abroad to pass citizenship to children. Parents must show a “substantial connection” to Canada. The bill aims to modernise citizenship laws.

The Canadian government has introduced a new bill, titled C-3, that removes the existing limit on citizenship by descent. The legislation was presented in the Parliament on Thursday by Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab.

Currently, the rule states that a Canadian citizen that was born outside Canada would not be able to pass on their citizenship to their child born abroad. Essentially, introduced in 2009, it restricted citizenship by descent to only the first generation born in Canada. The proposed “Citizenship Bill” aims to correct these injustices.

However, the parent should demonstrate a “substantial connection” to Canada. It is defined as at least 1,095 cumulative days (three years) of physical presence in the country before the child is born or adopted.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), “As a result of the first-generation limit to citizenship by descent for individuals born abroad, most Canadian citizens who are citizens by descent cannot pass on citizenship to their child born or adopted outside Canada. The current first-generation limit to citizenship no longer reflects how Canadian families live today—here at home and around the world—and the values that define our country.”

  • Air Force To Get Rs 10,000 Crore Indigenous I-STAR Spy Planes

Amid the ongoing Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the Defence Ministry is going to take up Rs 10,000 crore proposal to buy three sophisticated spy planes to help Indian Air Force get a clear air-to-ground picture to carry out precision strikes against enemy ground targets like radar stations, air defence units and other mobile objects.

The Rs 10,000 crore project for the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (I-STAR) is expected to be taken up for clearance at a high-level defence ministry meeting scheduled to be held in the fourth week of June, defence officials told ANI.

The ISTAR provides air-to-ground surveillance to the forces to help them in carrying out precision strikes.

The spy aircraft project being developed by the Defence Research and Development includes the acquisition of three aircraft through an open tender from foreign manufacturers, including Boeing and Bombardier.

The onboard systems on the aircraft would be completely indigenous, as the DRDO’s Centre for Airborne Systems has already successfully developed them, they said.

The systems have already been proven and developed by the CABS and they will just have to be integrated with the three aircraft which would be acquired and modified for the purpose, they said.

The development of an ISTAR system would also add India to a select club of nations with such a capability, including the US, UK, Israel and a few others.

ISTAR thus provides dynamic and time-sensitive targeting capability and contributes significantly to meeting the nation’s security goals.

It will aid in limiting the scale and complexity of undetected hostile threats. It has multi-spectral surveillance capability to detect, locate and monitor irregular forces.

The I-STAR system shall be for carrying out intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting by day and night from stand-off ranges.

The ISTAR systems are operated at high altitudes from large stand-off ranges and will be used for intelligence processing, exploitation, dissemination and generation of the common operating picture.

The ISTAR aircraft will be a system comprising airborne and ground segments.
